Film Review: Purge: Election Year

3rd in the series, The Purge: Election Year sees the yearly carnage on New York streets. As per previous instalments we find ourselves following a group of unlucky individuals caught on the streets after dark and attempting to find a way back to safety. At the same time masked Purgers stand on every corner looking to kill anyone using everything from fists, knifes, baseball bats, axes, flames all the way to every shapes and sizes of gun.

There is nothing new in the story and although the characters have slightly changed, the story is essentially identical. In fairness the story hops along a little better than the previous instalment, The Purge: Anarchy (catch it on NetFlix), but without a significant new angle this is just a remake.

If you haven’t seen any of the previous films, or you particular liked them, then worth catching this instalment otherwise you’re missing nothing if you skip this one.
