Film Review: Sausage Party

First a word of warning: this is no Disney or Pixar and is definitely an adult only cartoon. Cute characters, all smiles and fun loving hide (well in-your-face) strong adult language and sexual content which would most certainly shock Aunt Wilma or little Bobby.

The story’s as simple as an episode of Teletubbies. All the items in a supermarket want to be bought in order to leave with the human Gods and hence get to The Great Beyond not realising that in fact this means they will be eaten. The main characters, a sausage called Frank and his love heart bun Brenda, get separated and must reunite. Frank learns the truth about their fate, and tries to convince and save everyone.

There are some great laugh-out-loud moments and the double entendres come quick and fast. At points you need to pinch yourself that the risque images on the screen are actually created by professional movie makers and not the scribbles on a school toilet door. These adults most certainly embraced their teenage youth.

Ultimately the film is simple giggles, and would probably appeal most to the 15 to 25 year age group where the similarities of a sausage to a penis are still hilarious. The rest of us will feel somewhat unsatisfied (oh er missus).
